Industrial Refrigeration Project
Thovo Therm successfully completed the industrial refrigeration installation for the Savanna Beef Processing Plant, a large-scale, modern meat processing facility in Namibia. The project was delivered as a full EPC turnkey solution, forming a critical part of the plant’s core infrastructure. Execution focused on meeting the demanding operational, hygiene, and safety requirements of a high-throughput meat processing environment.
The scope comprised the procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover of a two-stage ammonia refrigeration system, supported by secondary propylene glycol circuits, as well as the complete supply and installation of insulated cold-room and processing-area panelling. The refrigeration plant serves multiple critical areas, including carcass chillers, blast freezers, freezer stores, chilled processing rooms, and high-temperature production zones. Each area operates under precisely controlled conditions to ensure product quality, food safety, and operational consistency.
As EPC contractor, Thovo Therm assumed full responsibility for the complete mechanical refrigeration and panelling scope. This included ammonia plant room equipment, evaporative condensers, accumulators, refrigerant pumps, glycol systems, insulated piping networks, valve stations, safety systems, a fully integrated control and monitoring platform, and all insulated wall and ceiling systems forming the temperature-controlled envelopes. All works were executed in compliance with applicable Namibian regulations and relevant international standards for industrial ammonia refrigeration and hygienic food-processing construction.
Special attention was given to installation quality, system reliability, and operational safety throughout the project lifecycle. The works included detailed shop drawings, staged pressure testing, controlled commissioning procedures, comprehensive functional testing, and coordinated panelling installation to maintain thermal integrity and hygiene compliance. On-site operator training was provided to ensure plant personnel are fully equipped to operate and maintain the refrigeration system safely and efficiently.
As part of the turnkey handover, Thovo Therm delivered a complete set of as-built documentation and operation and maintenance manuals, providing the client with long-term operational clarity and support.
The successful completion of the Savanna Beef Processing Plant project demonstrates Thovo Therm’s capability to deliver complex EPC turnkey refrigeration and panelling solutions, tailored to demanding production environments and built for long-term performance and reliability.
